Harris Tweed Cushions & Gifts

Hi, Its been a while since I last blogged. I have been working on more new designs & still working on something that’s a secret and I am still unable to share it with anybody 🙂

I have loved showing guests that visit how I design on my laptop, it still makes me smile when they say they thought I was playing on Facebook & cant believe how complicated the design programme seems  but are amazed at how a sketch turns into a design 🙂 I have done a lot of test stitching designs at the shop & you never know when you pop in I may be working on something new.

I made some more cushions using  fabrics from NEXT, Harris Tweed & also a new Black Watch Tartan from Glen Elgin. Tomorrow In the studio I will be sewing Owl, Stag & pheasant cushions so I can then start on more Squirrel, hares & wolves again.

   

I have also been making many more goodies using Harris Tweed including 15 different designs on greeting cards which are ideal for framing after use, 9 of them are my own unique designs that are not available anywhere else & I will not release the designs for digital download until after September & some I will not release at all, I have made more bookmarks and now have a lovely variety of designs, Mug Rugs, coaster sets & the Mug Warmers have also been topped up along with Harris Tweed hearts & Needle sets. I sold out of all the books I had so they are on my to do list.

     

Now not forgetting the little ones I have been playing hard making some goodies for them as well. Here are a few of my makes but I have many more in the studio, including Dinosaur masks, Pencil Toppers, Games, Dolls & felt guns, tartan purses & bags & jewellery & stationary.

If my toys and gifts are made of felt this is toy quality Felt which is thicker than the normal felt as this is the only felt that will pass the CE safety tests that I have to do before selling any children’s toys.

The Fairy Homes including Mushroom houses all have CE tested battery candles in them which has a screw in battery so your little ones will not be able to open the battery base.

New Embroidery Machine Design out today!

I was asked if I could make one of my designs into a matching card for a 21st Birthday so I have spent the afternoon playing & came up with these…….

 

I decided to not just do the 21st but do all the birthdays & also a Mother’s Day design.

Quick & easy & all in a 100mm x 100mm hoop. Its an applique style to make it even quicker to stitch out.

Decided its time I designed a Castle…..

   

I am always making things for girls so decided to try designing something that the boys could also enjoy.

I designed the castle yesterday but it looked lonely so i decided to design a the play mat to go with it.

The castle I designed I converted into 6 files so other embroidery machine owners can also make it as long as they have the medium hoop which is 5″ x 7″

It comes in 4 files… 1 castle with rounded windows, ivy & flowers, 1 castle with pointed windows & ivy, Turret roof & play mat which has a moat, fishpond with goldfish in it & also a vegetable patch.

National Unicorn Day

Happy Unicorn Day 

Yes today is National Unicorn Day so I decided to design myself a Unicorn Book Mark. I actually designed a few Unicorn things today but the Bookmark was the one I couldn’t stop stitching out. Its a quick & easy design & Iv only tried it in felt BUT!!! I will be trying other fabrics xxx

Getting Crafty 2018

I have been such a busy bee over the past 7 months, I was invited to attend a huge Christmas craft fair that I also attended last year & took twice as much stock & still came home with empty boxes so since then I have bee crafting almost 8 hours a day & I can say I have had a beano & a spare room full of stock ready to (fingers crossed) Last me through out this years shop season.

I have also been busy back designing, some of the Embroidery Patterns I will be uploading to Etsy so that you can download them & stitch yourself but I am keeping some patterns back so that only I will be the one stitching them.

With so many new designs & patterns & secrets in the pipeline I am looking forward to a very busy crafting year.

Here are some of the new gift cards I have added, I love taking photographs & last year I sold more of my own designs than any other so I have added 16 more new designs.

I love working with Harris Tweed & have used more than ever for this year. The bookmarks shown here I designed a pattern so that my Embroidery Machine sews them out completely for me, I have currently Sheep, Scotty Dogs, Thistles, Belted Galloway & Highland cattle on the designs on xx

These Cushions are all my own design. I have released the Bird of prey as this years 1st download but I am the ONLY person in Dumfries & Galloway that are able to sell them in a shop. I have been asked to release some of my other designs & will do over the next few weeks but not all of them. I want to keep some designs under cover & will only be selling finished products myself xx

Harris Tweed Villages have been added this year, they are not as straight forward as the normal felt ones I sell but I have finally perfected them.

Harris Tweed Lavender hanging hearts & Harris Tweed Broaches. I made these in huge bulk amounts as the Christmas fair showed me they could be again in high demand. These were again designed by myself on the Embroidery machine which will do all the stitching for me & then hand finished.

I have always wanted to try free motion embroidery, so I had a play & even surprised myself how well they turned out. These are really large framed pictures using nothing but Harris Tweed & thread & every one I do is unique. I have done 8 up to now & every time I finish one I can not wait to start the next.

The last picture I am sharing today is a picture I designed on my embroidery machine. It is done completely in one hooping & I can change the size so I can make it automatically fit any size frame. I decided to design some pictures like this as they can stitch out in around 17 minutes & I can sell them a lot less than the unique free motion embroidery ones. I have designed lots more of them all with different scenes to fit in to woodland Forests, Sea & beach themes & will work on some more soon .

Magnolia Fairy Stamped Card

I adore Magnolia Images & decided to have a play with one which sees her dressed as a Fairy.

I loved colouring her in as I did it at work & I had the visitors coming in & having a play with the inks & brush to colour their own image in.

I coloured this image using Distress inks & had a play at doing the same image & using the same colours but doing them colour opposite.

 

I then took the images home & made an easel card.

The card I made is for the  Magnolia Forever Design Team & they have a fantastic challenge & we would love to see you join in.

Magnolia Tilda Flower Jar

I added lace to a jar & then coloured Tilda in using Distress inks I did add wink of stella glitter to her which is not showing up but she does look all sparkled in my window. I then finished with a spray of flowers. xxx

Magnolia Forever New Challenge

 

I coloured my Magnolia Stamp using Distress inks & used the scan n cut to cut the stamp out.

I then added lace to the bottom of the candle & used 3d gel to add my coloured stamp.

I then used 3d gel to add all the flowers.

I used water colour card & Stayzon ink & then coloured Dancing Ballerina Tilda using Distress inks & added flowers, Gem sprigs, Pearls, Lace & Ribbon. The I matt & layered the image onto coordinating card & added her to a Frame which is going to go in my Granddaughters new bedroom.

I have made this card into a 8×8 & coloured the digital stamp in distress inks. I matt & layered papers to fill the white space & added 3 x brads a sentiment & Flowers.
